Rockstar
You made me feel empty and alone,
Like an object that was just meat and bone.
You were my boss and I was only 19,
I believed in love and rainbows,
You made me believe in fear and disappointment.
I kept this a secret, and when I spoke out I felt gross.
Gross for trusting in a man that seemed genuine and kind,
When in reality you were gross yourself.
You preyed on young girls like me that didn't know any better.
You made them believe that they were different and special.
A "rockstar" is what you called me.
I believed it.
I didn't ever give you a reason to be treated like a hole.
If anything I tried my hardest to prove myself to you.
I wanted to be successful and working for you seemed like the path,
but instead you were the path to my darkness, to a dark hole.
I feel like I didn't do enough to stop you.
I feel guilty and gross for maybe allowing things to continue,
but I have to seperate myself from that life in order to prosper.
I try every night to forget, but you made me open my eyes.
The world that I once viewed as beautiful is now gross.
I am no longer that naïve young girl, and yes I still feel gross,
But now I understand what life is really like.
I have now grown and I will become a “Rockstar.”
