Romanticize
There she sat hunched over her desk, pouring over her sketchbook
Warm sunrises and sunsets painted nearly every page
Swatches upon swatches
Watching as the shadows grew longer and the small bulbs playing tug of war along her shelves cast gold in her eyes
Yes, the shadows grew longer
Somehow allowing her to seem even fonder
Of the sight of 937 gliding along the pressed pulp in heavy strokes
Elevating not only the temperature of the piece, but of the room
See yourself described in the same way as this girl
See yourself in rose tinted ignorance
Paint yourself, a sunrise, engaged in your most ardent of interests
See yourself, a new shade of blushed
Comfortable, awake, an escape from the rush
of your everyday
Become your own sketchbook
Trace new outlines, stipple in sunkissed
Cross hatch the stars resting in your irises
See yourself a masterpiece worth collecting
Reform yourself , a critic accepting
Idealize your very being
Being alive
Tint yourself bronze because at the very least you're trying
I don't care if it feels like lying
Honesty is important in the eyes of heaven
But let's look back to the girl scribbling with 937
She, hunched over her desk stained with rings from the countless cups of caffeine that jump started her heart rate when her eyelids fluttered
Her hands are raw, and they shook as she was watching
Watching as the shadows grew longer
She scribbles wondering how much longer
She loosened the floodgates and spilled onto the page
Pencil after pencil
Shade after shade
crimson 937 splintered the page and
Was seen in the bloodshot of her eyes
She was still hunched over her desk
Sometimes it's easier to romanticize
