In a Room
In a room I found myself,
an empty body.
One that no longer belonged to me.
One for which touch felt foreign.
Hugs seemed to hurt,
and kisses to open wounds.
I lived in three worlds.
In the first, I was born loving.
In the second, I grew up hating.
And in the third, love and hate were neutral.
I knew the sentiment of revenge
but lacked the experience to carry it out.
I hated with all my strength
but ultimately knew that it is only love
that runs in my veins.
As the years passed by
I learned that loving is possible
and that hate only kills one’s soul.
Destiny gave me two paths to choose from.
One was to hate and not be loved,
the other one was to love and open the door to
all who wanted to love me.
I chose to open my door.
My body was no longer empty
because my soul decided to inhabit it.
I have started to see the world with new eyes.
Something that I had believed impossible.
Now it’s easy for me to say “I love you.”
Touch isn’t strange
and kisses no longer open wounds.
