Room and Board

Standing in an empty room

bread in hand

all I can do is eat.

The walls are covered with life

unfurling tendrils

vines winding their way to truth.

“No windows, and no doors”

they often jest,

but in a dream, it’s true.

For the universe is a dream

a heady happening

where we’re assuaged by light.

Room and board is cheap to some

expensive to others

tedious to those

those who look beyond.

While it may be necessary,

I’ll still lament

The exquisite curse of humanity.
