The Rooms
mom, i love you, you know that i do
have i now said so enough to you?
explaining myself to the world around
by music and noise, to hear the sound
dad, i love you, you know that i do
i tell you this in hopes that you knew
sounds of life surrounding us
to hear your voice as we discuss
softer songs, that’s okay
but i have a better way
to say what i must say
things to start the day
coming down and coming out
coming out of my shell
coming round to move about
coming down to wish you well
mom, i love you, you know that i do
have i now said so enough to you?
swinging on the spiral
oblivious to the life of all things viral
explaining myself to the world around
by music and noise, to hear the sound
dad, i love you, you know that i do
i tell you this in hopes that you knew
sounds of life surrounding us
to hear your voice as we discuss
matters of things that we enjoy
matters of things i dare deploy
coming down and coming out
coming out of my shell
coming round to move about
coming down to wish you well
to and fro, together we grow
coming down and holding on
sky above and clouds below
coming round and holding on
my childhood is all i have
my memories, they start to halve
as i grow up i start to fade
and in the dark i learn to wade
the water comes up to my neck
reminding me of my regrets
when sadness has its way at me
i'll think about what i could be
with you always right by my side
here my time i'll gladly bide
floating in the open sea
the fruit of two much fruitful trees
