Roots

Dear Grandpa

Memories that are held dear to my heart

From the past, present, and start

Remind me of your knowledge, love, and compassion

Which I have since then repeated, repeated in a hectic fashion.

Your happiness was composed of my brothers, cousins, and I

And continues as I look up and see you fly.

I do not focus on our final goodbye

But instead of our many vacations with the sight of rising tides.

Your impact forms roots deeper then you know

As every day it grows and grows.

You’ve told me tales of your absorbent past

And demonstrate the lessons that have last.

And because of this and my others

You are my reason I have a brain that wonders.

You’ve inspired me to follow my dreams

No matter how hard that may seem.

As I develop, advance, and grow

I will remember the tales and lessens you show

And carry them on my back with great honor

Because were an exceptional and inspiring Grandfather.
