Roots

They say your home is where your heart is,

but after living in six states, three countries, and three different continents,

it's hard to truly call a place your home.

Every time I step off the plane to my next "home,"

I always look around and examine either the shimmering waters of the Pacific

or the snow-covered mountains of the Alps.

No matter what part of the globe I move to,

I try putting my memories behind me because I know a new chapter of my life is beginning.

Yes, my life has been different.

I've seen things most people would only dream of.

I have friends in every corner of the world.

But for the first time, I finally feel at home.

I can finally settle down and plant my roots deep in the ground.

They won't be ripped out,

only to be planted somewhere across the globe.

For once, only time can tell how far they grow.
