Roots ... conscience. Part 1
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 New English Translation
19 Do not extinguish the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21 But examine all things; hold fast to what is good.
Roots ... conscience. Part 1
Keep your conscience pure. Easier said than done
Is it not a requirement just short of a commandment?
It only can be done by accepting its continuing reproach
And then start dealing vigorously with whatever it condemns
When conscience is hardened and lost its sensitivity
Does it not send out signals loud enough to be heard?
By a satisfied soul, that wallows in its own desires
And could not care less for it is too callous to be hurt
Can conscience be defensive when Satan accuses it?
Can it be void of offense when accusations are made?
Does it does not lose its peace by trying to defend itself?
Or does it just cease to try and neglect to concentrate
Accusations true or false will take its full attention
It is like flowers at a funeral as only the close-by will see
The flowers will direct the tension away from a moment of grief
And then are later placed upon the grave where only death can be.
