Roots in the Ground
A tree so sturdy that it won’t fall down.
A family so supportive that I can’t be bound,
Bound to the rules, expectations, or the ground.
A sky, brilliant blue, that I yearn to reach,
A world, intricately vast, that longs to teach,
And my family, flexible as the wind,
So I may hope to never be pinned.
A brother bounded by the chains of death,
Who constantly fights to gather his breath,
Yet continues to smile and savor life,
Without a care of the bitter rife.
An encouraging push to adventure the unknown,
And experience new knowledge about the ancient bones,
And forever know, I am not alone.
The leaves that shield me enough to strive,
Toward the radiant light of the sun in the sky,
Like a plant with water, sun, and earth, I will thrive.
