Rose

Whatever happened to the Rose? The one that grew from the street She blossomed and bloomed Until he plucked her petals and cut her stem. Just when the rose knew she was special She was scorned, chained and bruised What ever happen to the rose? Without a garden, without sunshine, in a basement No tree to shelter and no bees to nurture Will you pray for that rose? She left her sent Her vision unclear Strange skin, strange hair Far, far away from that street, yet all too familiar The petals leaked blood, tears and sweat Unwanted kisses Unwanted scares Those three petals, The deepest shade of red, The strongest bond Chains and links Pollinated and starved. Yet that special Rose did not lose hope. Covered from arm to arm, She had the audacity to grow, When no one cared. Out of the night, She grew. Wearing a mask, She grew, Strong from chain to chain She grew, Dedicating al her goals to escape, She grew. A dime has passed, A door unlocked Finally free. In the world, All so new, The petals grew for all eyes to see. Every woman is a flower. Dedicated to those three petals from Ohio
