Rose
On an autumn day the air smelled of rose
and troops of royal horses marched in time.
Clouds and crowds came to this place of sorrow.
The king has gone, leaving behind his crown
and far away a widowed queen gives birth
to a lonely child full of hope and light.
For seven years he grew in darkened light,
tending to his dying mother's roses.
All alone on this day of his sad birth
and yet his father's death at the same time.
He left behind his wife, heir, and his crown
and in his place was left grief and sorrow.
The boy will not give in to this sorrow.
For in this time of death he sees much light.
He will grow strong and take his father's crown,
always remembering his mother's rose.
He lives his life and does not question time
and to his kingdom brings a different birth.
Mother called, "Do not anger for your birth
on that small day of your father's sorrow.
It is in the past and beyond our time."
And with her dying breath gives in to light;
her cheeks no longer the color of rose
and with her color goes her golden crown.
He laid his princely hand upon the crown
of her head, which had given this boy birth,
and set in her hands a single red rose
and wept in the dark for his sorrow.
In his dark world there seems to be no light.
Death has met him through passages of time.
A year passed by and through the shades of time
he found a woman to offer his crown.
Her heart and soul was full of holy light.
Her beauty made him thankful for his birth
and rid him of his terrible sorrow.
Her grace was such as though a lovely rose.
And through their time together she gave birth.
Another royal crown to stop sorrow
and all this light still reds his mother's rose.
