The Rose

There once was a rose
Beautiful was she
Whilst the gardens were green

Her thorns were sharp,
Her stem tangled
And yet her beauty remained

She would reach up to the sun,
Delighting in the warmth
She would hold the drops of water
That always came with new rain

Her beauty was not unnoticed
Not hidden away, she was seen
Before long, she was plucked from her garden of green
Away from all known things
