rosebush

you were so tall

a blooming tree over a dying rosebush.

the more leaves you bloomed

the less buds i had.

Until all i had was thorns

a thorny rose bush with no roses at all.

and then a gardner came and chopped me down -

because there’s no use in having a rosebush that only grows thorns.
