Rotten
The sweetest pungent fruit
Clattering of a child's steps across the back patio
Softest rose petals
gorgeous roasted turkey
A sip of chocolate.
Dreams of the old days
Open your eyes
See them again
Only rotten.
Food turned to ash
Creaking of warped and narled wood
A rough cat's tounge
Partially licked pistachio icecream cone in a puddle on the floor
The crack and crumble of monsoons
Rain whipping
Wind pushing
Lightning crashing down
Thunder rumbles
Close the window
Open the door
Water sloshes in
Cleaning the thoughts away.
