In The Rough
A proper proposal,
a star aligned with glitter and gold,
a mere sparkle in the sky, a reward, a treasure, a burning desire in one’s heart,
a fashion statement, a glimmering disguise,
a stone which is cut for the lover, a square, a circle, even a heart,
a girl’s best friend, a criminal’s most fondest dream,
what lies beneath the X on the map, a woman’s neck, a mobster’s finger,
a transparent glass that holds every color,
the eye of the mermaid, the heart of a kleptomaniac,
the superstar in the light, the flame in the dark,
a pearl’s dearest friend, a want, a necessity,
a curse, a cure,
a heartfelt apology,
It is what lies beneath the imagination.
