Rough Patches

As  our  lives  race  pass  by

we  experience  the  darkness  and  the  light,

the  joy  and  the  pain,

and  those  moments  of  shame.

We  tend  to  do  wrong

and  many  others  begin  to  tag-along.

Many  secrets  are  hidden

for  many  of  the  things  we  do

are  strictly  forbidden.

We  know  it’s  wrong

but  to  us  it  feels  so  right.

You  can’t  see the  pain

that  is  hidden  in  our  eyes.

We  try  to  be  strong

but  deep  down  we  can’t.

We  try  to  get  better

but  drama and  problems

bring  us  back  down

to  where  we  started.

It’s  like  a  never-ending  race.

You  wish  to  finish  first

but  you  never  do

because  you’re  repeatedly  sent  to  the  starting line.

We  never  expected  a  life  like  this

A  life  full of  rough  patches

isn’t  the  life

I  want  to  continue  with.
