Roundabout

The playground roundabout

Thick painted with every hue

Graffiti scrawled declaring love

Draws the rider, enticing

With promises of exhilaration

Turning slowly, the ride

Creates excitement and joy

Laughter, shared fun

Grabbing for the handle

As the speed increases

Dizziness arrives

Spiralling inwards

White knuckled hands grab

Survival overcomes

Thoughts pressed back

Spinning insistent

Until control is lost

A centrifugal force

Tentative toes

In leather shoes

Scrape and scuff

Slowing the ride

Applying the brakes

Revolving energy

The rider jumps

Separating from the

Merry- go –round

Finding stability

Re – finding the ground
