Routine.
Day in, day out.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Go through the motions
without skipping a beat,
wake up, get ready,
and don’t forget to eat.
Most days, sitting and learning,
absorbing like a sponge
all that some people think
we should know and remember.
It is routine to learn new things,
some that can be taught,
and some that can only be experienced
and lived through.
The sights, sounds, smells, and feelings,
coursing everywhere and influencing
the future that has yet to take place.
Each decision is routine.
Knowing the cause and effect,
analyzing the gain versus the loss.
It is routine to guess if it’s worth it.
When in reality, no one can know.
It is ingrained within,
to search for joy,
avoid sorrow,
and live for tomorrow.
When it would be better,
to take a step back,
and examine the routine.
And only follow it,
if it makes you happy.
Because the routine of life
can get rather boring,
unless it’s the routine,
that creates the chaos
within each moment.
Nothing can stay the same.
Everything is changing,
but it the fact that it is constantly,
changing and mutating,
upsetting the status quo,
is a routine within itself.
Therefore creating,
a routine within the chaos
of life.
