Ruined

She stays there

with nothing to keep her company

but the tree

the tree that ruined her

the tree that made her ugly

the tree that ensured that she would never

be driven again

she used to be beautiful

sleek lines

shiny paint

tuned engine

she used to be cared for

cleaned

scrubbed

vacuumed

now she is broken

she is dirty

she is scratched

her lover left

he got out one day

leaving her in a field

he was beautiful then

he was power hungry

lust driven

and had a gleam in his eye

that was always alight

he stormed into battle

a great battle at that

he fought hard

he was winning

then he lost

she was forced to stare

at his cold and broken body

until they came again

to take her lover

and bring him away to a place unknown

they didn’t even spare her a second glance

she was the most important thing to him

and the disregarded her like a fly on the wall

people come here now

to see the lover of the hero

but she sits broken

uncared for

and sad

awaiting for the day that the irony of life

will take her so her lover can care for her once more

the tree came and sat

in her passenger seat

most see it as a gift to her

so she doesnt have to be alone

but she sees it as a curse

because even though she has someone riding shotgun

the driver seat feels more empty than it ever did before

so she sits

with the tree

the one that ruined her for anyone else

so she sits

waiting for the day that she can see him once more

so she sits

missing him more

feeling the place that should be filled

empty

so she sits waiting

waiting

waiting
