Ruler

I measure my life by the
Keys of my typewriter.
Every click
     Every tick
          Every breath.

I measure my life by the
Journals on my shelf.
Every page
     Every age
          Every step.

I measure my life by the
Strings of my guitar.
Every strum
     Every hum
          Every smile.

I measure my life by the
Books I haven't read.
Every novel
     Every marvel
          Every tear.

I measure my life by the
Moments I've made.
Every chaff
     Every laugh
          Every friend.
