rumors

do you love me, do you hate me,

do you like me, do you not?

perhaps it's vain for me to wonder

if I'm the subject of your thoughts.

-- but do you? is the question

that returns to me again;

I have heard you do, but gossip

can be false. and so... what then?

I shall ignore the news I've heard,

let you decide to hold your peace;

and if time comes for you to share it,

you your secret will will release.

my curiosity in that moment

will become no more white-hot:

for I will know, from what you tell me,

do you love me, do you not.
