The Runner
He is young and runs for joy without knowing why, spinning and laughing and falling down;
Now he runs for sport to outrace or outlast his friends;
Running becomes the sport as he trims his time by non-stop focus through the pain;
Finally he runs to hold on to a vision of youth and vitality; ever slower but unrelenting against the distance
