Runner

Focused on what's ahead,

She finds herself almost running,

Begging for the time to move forward.

Racing to the future,

Like that when all her happiness is supposed to begin.

She can't wait to to touch this promised land of dreams.

Her state of ultimate happiness,

or what society has caused her  to believe that might be.

Neglecting the happinest moments that are right in front of her.

Lord, if not now,

I hope she'll realize what she has missed in the future.

But by then she will regret not enjoying these moments.

And she'll find herself wishing time could go backwards..
