Running

I used to hate running

all I could hear, were feet pounding

all I could feel, were lungs burning

I saw nothing ahead,

not even my next step.

But now

it's different.

Now,

It's Freedom.

Each stride

is a step away from a cage that I trapped myself

in.

The thoughts

that said I wasn't good enough

are miles behind me now.

The people

that said I couldn't do it

are watching, as I fly by

with the spirit of a girl

who is strong and confident and beautiful

and most importantly,

the spirit of a girl,

who never gave up.
