Running into a new point of view

When I was younger and I was mad

I was so stubborn, I would stay sad

I’d refuse to see the brighter side

And let my emotions control the ride

A rickety rocking roller coaster

That lost control as I got older

I’d scream, I’d yell, I’d scof, I’d pout

But I couldn’t get the anger out

My mood it slumped, I wanted to cry

I had to kiss this mindset goodbye

I laced up my sneakers and started to run

Not stopping until my body was done

This continued every day at the crack of dawn

Until I was finally able to run a half marathon

I shocked myself, I’m capable of more than I think

Why had I wasted my energy making such a stink?

There is no limit at all to what I could do

All I have to do is change my point of view
