Running at Night

Streaking through the frigid night Running into the wind Tendrils of hair flick across my face; The wind steals through my sweater’s seams. My ears grow numb. A puddle of water ripples into a million silver waves, Running from the wind over the pavement. My heart is warm, My lungs are filled; The night air is contrast, The fervor of the cold That inspires an energy, almost wildness, To run faster, Farther, To be a streak of warmth through the night wind.
