Running, running

I strive, I stride
I set the pace, I run this race,
Running, running.
I drink the air, I find myself;
I am dust. I am a child of God.
I am bold. I am strong.
I am savoring the run. Running, running.
From feet below me to heart within me,
I am too fast to study the trees.
Yet I am still to feel their beauty, Running, running.
I look ahead and see the prize;
My maker smiles at the mess He made.
I endure the pain, I like the burn. Running, running.
I radiate heat, I am kissed by the cold.
My legs, my mind, my soul are one.
I can't stop, I won't stop, I'm far too close;
One day I will finish, one day I'll make it home.
Until then, I keep on.
Running, running.
