Running Shoes

Tue, 06/04/2019 - 15:51 -- dorankc

you started running

was it because you were afraid?

or because you were finally free?

your shoes were worn

who knows when you bought them,

as long as they could last the journey

you look back

how far had you gotten?

how could you ever return?

you keep going

why should the people behind you slow you down,

they didn't want to see you win

you realize this isn't just a run anymore

something sparked inside of you

and you never wanted to be the person at the starting line

this was your freedom

you slowed down

racing isn't the life you want

and growing takes time
