Running Still

I am. I think Therefore I must be. I AM. I stand. I am standing. I stand still. I've grown. I've progressed; I've learned. I've been stressed but here I stand. Still. I still stand. Not knowing what's next what new stress what new adventure what new fall.
Afterall, You wanna learn to walk you're gonna hafta fall. Gotta start out slow. Gonna hafta crawl. Then struggle up and fall back down. Fall hard. Fall flat on your face. Then set yourself and resolve. Resolve to go. Resolve to be like them. Resolve to get up and walk out. Set yourself. Set your resolve. It will serve you well. When you witness your first triumph triumphant you'll stand. 'til the push. Push from behind, push from the side. Fall. Resolve. Stand. Push. Repeat. GET BACK UP! And the pushes and pulls keep coming and keep coming stronger but you're stronger too and eventually FINALLY you can stand! As you look around, with shaky legs, everyone is running. no one is crawling. is that guy flying? And everyone wants to help. They're pushing and pulling you Trying to get you moving. But you can't move. Pushed and pulled You struggle just to stand Pulling and pushing you stumble DON'T FALL You don't fall Gradually, you push back. Push the hands away. One at a time. But it never ends. One hand replaces the next and you push and swat and struggle and beat thrashing at the hands. kicking and screaming And suddenly you're in a new place I RAN! I RAN? I MUST'VE you ran. And you can stand Being pushed and pulled. You stand and you look at yourself. You look past the now ahead to the future where you see yourself as you want to be. you say I KNOW HOW TO RUN, I DON'T NEED HELP and with a wave the hands drop away. But a vision's a vision, that's all I can say, but this is the real world. Things don't work that way. You try to wave them away but the hands keep pulling and pushing Now as you run they slap your ass and pat your pack. You're running and running And running away.
You gotta get out. You can barely breathe. The running is taxing. It's not what you need. BUT EVERYONE'S RUNNING What else would you do?
You stop. Pushing and pulled you stand. You take the hits the pats the slaps the pounding and begging the grinding the gnashing they screaming and crying The pushing The pulling Why won't you move?
You're looking around. And you spot me. Who has witnessed your story. You know instantly And I know that you know. Slowly, deliberately, we take a step. Oh, it was worth it! then we run. And we are running. Still.
