Sacrifice

Sacrifice, the action of aspiration

It is the burning of a lamb.

Chemicals in a black girl's hair.

Makeup on a white girl's skin.

It is the humbling surplus of the unrequired.

Sacrifice is giving your last drop of water

to a needy plant,

so that one day it will grow

and sacrifice something for you.

Sacrifice is willingly giving something

that you don't have

hoping, looking, waiting

for a little something more.
