Sacrifice

Sacrifice

My father once told me “anything good in life comes with a sacrifice”.

My young mind still being molded and pressed, the words became a part of me, edged on the heart in my chest.

And as I looked at the world, I saw it everywhere. Passing in peaceful moments, I began to stop and stare.

A bird learns to fly by falling out of the tree

A rock becomes polished by tumbling in the sea

The seed has to be buried in order grow

When shooting a bow, you have to pull back the arrow

Don’t you know?

Anything good in life comes with a sacrifice.

You can’t see the stars if it weren’t for the darkness

Diamonds only form after years of being compressed.

Muscle has to break before it can rebuild

Metal goes through fiery flames in order to be molded into a shield

Caterpillars have to be confined with total darkness before they can grow wings to fly

The winds must be rolling rapidly if you want to fly a kite.

I see the world around me and I understand why there is sometimes storms, darkness and pain

After all, the flower doesn’t grow without the rain.
