The Sacrifice

Sitting next to people in my class,

some of them know what they want their future to be,

and some don’t even know if they’re gonna pass.

This has me worried because I’m not to sure what I want to do,

should I just wait it out and have fun,

or should I start to become more serious,

and start to plan for my future too.

My friends are all going out to have a good time,

in my head I’m thinking

should I go out with them

or stay home and study,

that’s the only thing running through my mind.

But I realize,

I have to do what will help me get ahead,

if I stay home and study

I won’t get a grade I will regret.

I know I will miss out on good memories with my friends,

but I have to focus more on making sure my hard work pays off in the end.

This is when I learned,
to work hard now so I could succeed later on in life,

and if I focus more now,
I can have fun when the time is right.

So I continue to study and focus on with school,

sure I will miss having fun like I used to,

but I know what I have to do.
