A Sad Story

In the light of day,
all that remains
is a story.
You haunt a mother's dreams
while keep fathers awake
and a moment of silence
will be followed by whispers
of pity and terror.

You thought about all the chaos
coming to an end
but did you realize
the horrible, bitter tears
that fall in your wake?
When it ends,
misery begins.
Those who love you
and those who don't
search their brains for your answers.

None can know your last thoughts
but they can imagine their own
and fear
the loss
of kin,
