Sad truth about highschool

All the excitement killed when you walk through the door
It was built to be such a great time in my life
Eating lunch wherever
Feels like your whole time in high school was supposed to be spent in the halls
Where’s the cheerleaders in their uniforms?
Where’s the jocks in their letterman jackets?
Where’s the separation of “cliques” in the cafeteria?
You know ….
Goth’s over there
Popular’s right here
Band geeks on the other side of the café
What happened?
They don’t tell you about the hard search for one’s true self
Or the deep emotional toll that will impact you
Or the super stress of school work to where you want to pull out your hair
They don’t tell anybody this
They lied
Fooled us completely
The sad truth of high school
