Safe.
Should I drown?
And end this chapter?
Or stick around?
They say that things get better
I've found that they get worse
They ask "What's wrong?"
They ask you to explain
But no one listens
They talk down to you
They talk over your emotions
Paraphrasing how you feel
Their words choke you
They leave you speechless
You sit and gasp for air
Feeling every bit of oxygen
Taken from your lungs
Absorbed and stolen
You lay lifeless
Strewn across the floor
Your eyes lose their sparkle
Your glow starts to fade
People pass you.
They forget who you are
Or worse
Pretend to care
They try to pick you up
And they knock you down
Again you are on the ground
The process begins
Again you fade
You understand why you like to be alone
In the first place.
Now all you have is your thoughts
Ideas of yourself swarm around you
And somehow without trying
You drown in your thoughts
While you're all alone.
You try to find support
But no one is there
All you have is four walls
The walls choke you
They leave you gasping for air
And then you realize
Not even by yourself
You are safe
