Safety for Me

Location

I chose to be

in this world of dark and light.

I chose to be

hidden rrom my fears.

What people really see

is the front that I put up

What people really see

is not the real me.

My mask is the key

that keeps me safe

from the hurt of the crashing sea.

No, I am no waif.

I fear the sting of the bee,

the whip of the tree,

the disapponted plea

from those who love me.

I chose to be

hidden from my fears.

My mask is my key,

for it protects me.
