Sailboat

4am.

My sail boat begins to sink into the sea.

Pounded for nearly two months- the ocean has been no friend to this vessel of mine.

The mast now broken, splintered wood in my toes, and hanging sails wailing in the wind.

I sit in the middle of my sail boat. Despite my efforts to patch the holes, water slowly seeps beneth.

I am paralyzed by my new reality.

My sail boat now submerges underwater as I float on my back.

The sun begins to rise as a former beckon of a safe rescue.

It stings my skin and blisters at any sign of happiness.

With every breath I am hit by a new wave and the salty taste of grief.

As I close my eyes and listen as my Mother sinks deeper and deeper into the sea.

A faint sigh as the ocean consumes my sail boat- she wails- "I love you; time for me to be free."
