The Sailor

Captivated by the ripples of the water She ran out past me, She had found something Maybe some precious key. I walked out fast Following her steps, To see the precious key And the shining shells. To my awe There was no key, She just knelt down To touch the sea. Her eyes sparkled As if dreams were fulfilled, As if she was the princess Of the castles she built. She looked at the water In extreme joy, And shouted out loud "I am going to be my father's boy !" Bewildered I stood To what she said, Trying to comprehend As to what she meant. Such memories I could recall When I read her name, She was shining as a sailor The newspaper reflected her fame.
