Saltwater Sadness

My vocal chords are wrapped in seaweed

Salt dances across my tongue so I speak,

With the sting of the sea on my lips,

Coral stretches from my fingertips

My touch becomes an ecosystem

Sandy skin from the bottom of the ocean

I am drowning my body in emotions

Watching everyone breach the surface

As I cling to every bubble of breath I get.

That is what depression is.
