Same

She turns her head just slightly

Looks past the window pane

I cannot help but wonder

If what we’re seeing is the same

A tear drips down her cheek

A smile spreads on my face

How can she cry and I be happy?

We are looking at the same place

Wind rushes through the window

And whispers in my ear

It talks to me, but barely

Tells me what I need to hear

Although we stare the same direction

What we see is not alike

It is all about perspective

In this precious thing called life

I sit back as a realize

That girl beside is me

Such conflicting feelings

It’s now hard for me to breathe

A smile spreads across my face

But in the burrows I know

A tear is drizzling down my cheek

I dare not let it show

Amazing how this world of ours

Plays tricks on our own minds

We emulate content

Even when we are not fine

But when it comes down to it

We must step back and see

This world of ours is broken

That’s how it’s going to be

As you come to know this

And accept that it is true

That will be the time

When you can finally be you

I look beside again

And see that girl is gone

I have accepted her inside me

I know I’m not alone

As we look into the world

We may think it’s all a game

But everyone has their burdens

No one is the same
