the same moon
dear dad,
one hundred eighty nights ago
i was happy
i was fearless
i was unbroken
i stand in the dark alone
and wonder all night in my vision
the awe-inspiring days we were togther
laugh until our stomachs hurt
tears until our eyes became puffy
words said until i felt like i could conquer the world
i searched out the window in hopes to find you
the countless hours of labor you did to fulfill my life
mom's and my sibilings'
you had no idea what you were doing
yet, you took every risk
the night of the moon
you never came back
i searched out the window
they took you
but you are not bad
you are good and selfless
and hard-working
it is not your fault
it is their fault
they broke us
but not forever
i feel hopeless
i feel fear
i feel broken
i feel like i am being swallowed
by the darkness surrounding me
but i know the moon
you see in your vision,
is the same moon
i see in my vision.
love, maribel
