Same Old Song
Drunk and lost we stumble into the void
Never quite alone in our misery
Everyone we know sings the same song
“Man up on high, who gave us the sky
Make me a palace, forgive me of my malice
Love me tender, love me sweet
Love me til I’m complete.”
We sit around waiting for the promised lands
Never moving, staring off beyond what we can see
Hoping someone can see what we need, saying
“Man up on high, who gave us the sky
Make me a palace, forgive me of my malice
Love me tender, love me sweet
Love me till I’m complete”
The world burns around us
People scream for peace and mercy
Always, forever, whispering
“Man up on high, who gave us the sky
Make me a palace, forgive me of my malice
Love me tender, love me sweet
Love me till I’m complete”
I don’t know how to live
Can’t trust myself on my own
Begging for your beck and call, praying
“Man up on high, who gave us the sky
Make me a palace, forgive me of my malice
Love me tender, love me sweet
Love me till I’m complete”
