Sandman
Restless times toil from day to day
Sighs linger on lips as minds are rendered to dust
All I need is sleep
Eyes open
Face raised towards the sky
Yearning for the embrace of inner night
Let me rest upon your arm, my sweet Morpheus
I awaken tried and weakened
Tasks miles long
Educated but unwise and demented
All I need is sleep
To hold irises laden with tears
And shoulders that bow to the earth
To mend the body torn by my own hand
My own mistakes
To heal my hurts
To cure my mind
To search for answers this spirit cannot find
To soothe it with songs of fantasy
I would kill for sleep
All I need is for it not to consume me
