the sanitarium within

Stepping into the silence
Stepping into the noise
I cling on to the resilience
I hold on to my poise

With pity do I walk
I walk about these aisles
I see No time or clock
Only smothering deranged smiles

So many but so few
Lives reduced and bittered
To them Their lives are due
But identities crushed and littered

The gaze upon me fixed
And the fingers reaching out
My emotions are mixed
For me proceeding is a doubt

Who holds them here
not just the lights are dim
But dim is their prayers I hear
Like a childish whim

Wake up to the silence
Wake up to the noise
Noise behind my eye lens
The peace within, it destroys

I am the jailer
I am the hostage
No sign of valour
My mind in bondage

The prisoners, my flaws
The bars, my denial
So I set them free from my claws
Break the bars and break free from the trial
