Satan’s Smirk

When Trouble first came, I thought I could hide

Then He responded with a cackle, and turned out the lights.

For years since, I’ve tried to get away

...All of my attempts have been in vain.

I dropped my head in grief as i realized that even running didn't work;

I struggled to lift it again as I questioned if fighting was worth the pain of always seeing Satan's smirk.

For so long I’ve struggled; yielding no results

Now, I don’t even have to look in the mirror to see all of my faults

My eyes have adjusted to the all-encompassing darkness that life is

“Maybe I wouldn’t mind being touched by death’s kiss”

It’s this train of thought that haunts me now

It has me ready to take my life's final bow
