Save My City

There is no lifeboat I can throw to make my city float.

It's sinking deeper into debt, the bottom is so close.

There is no medicine to cure my city, it's so ill.

Crime is everywhere. The streets are dark, and still.

The city needs a hero, someone strong and also brave,

A person who's determined that this city can be saved.

The Motor City needs new wheels, all four of them are flat.

Me as City CFO, can you imagine that?

My dream job is to find a cape that helps me fly away

To my beloved hometown so that I may save the day.

In culture and in history Detroit has paid its part,

I don't agree the city should be forced to sell its art.

Legacy and elbow grease built Motown, hair by hair.

Every single worker deserves to keep their pention share.

I'd like to save my city from a government corrupt.

I'd like to create jobs, and pave the roads - that's a must.

The children need to know how strong this city used to be,

And that if they put their mind to it, they can acheive anything.

There is no magic spell to wash away the pity,

But I dream to serve as CFO. I dream to save my city.
