Saved

I didn’t know I was lying

when I told you

you were saving me.

I thought you burned the

thoughts I had that scared me

into ashes.

“You are the love of my life

right now,”

I would whisper these words to you

like secrets.

I thought being in your arms

was what made me feel alive.

But the truth is

I felt like I was dying.

You pulled all of my ugly parts

pushed them to the surface through my pores.

When you left me, you told your friends

I was crazy.

Did you ever wonder if it was you

who drove me mad?
