Saving Grace

Darkness stalks the day All color seems to fade away Night falls, the moon bleached white It falsely guides, a beacon light The fog dances, confusing and misleading The elms scream, begging and pleading Their cries go ignored by the deaf night Fear prowls, consuming the last speck of light Inevitably the darkness won I fall to my knees praying this undone And open my eyes to the world, bright At once understanding this pointless fight Which everyone must undertake to fend off strife And to purge evil from all life
