Saving Lives, Changing Mine

Research--

Boring, Lab-Rat, White-Coated Monotany--

No time. Hours spent, on work which makes no difference.

Hounding over beakers, and instruments, unfamiliar.

A common misperception.

But ah! I dream of RESEARCH--

Vibrant, Like-Minded Peers, Bustling,

Biomedical, to be exact.

To engineer new technology, surrounded by--

Life and Promise, hoping to bestow those two graces

Unto those who are in dire need.

Because medical engineers create equipment and technologies

Which could save a young Boy's life. So that he too,

Can Pass the Torch.

The ability to patent the prosthetics of our Posterity.

Giving, a little girl, the chance to be who she wants to be.

Is it a dream? Yes, Perhaps, BUT,

Like most fleeting things, I'll only cast a larger net,

And reach outward until I can achieve this radiant butterfly,

Becoming,

A Biomedical Engineer.
