Saving Myself

If I were to save someone else

I would have to save myself first

For trying to save someone else when you are already falling

Can lead to dangerous circumstances

Imagine I saved them, but hurt myself in the process

Or maybe I didn't save anyone

Then who would I be

I would be a failure

For not even trying is one thing in itself

The people I have hurt in my lifetime has increased

Hurt feelings and hurtful words

Not realizing the pain I have put on other people

How am I to know, when I can't see past my own pain

My pain is blinding, a force I can't get rid of

If I could I would have let go of it a while ago

Making amends with people

And forgetting about the ones who have destroyed me

But in reality, this is not that easy

It takes time to get rid of pain

And to forget about the people who have done you wrong
